It came in low out of the pre-dawn sky and descended on the line-up amidst the first rays of the rising sun….with the heart of an Indian warrior, the Apache has arrived. This fiery tomahawk is like no other and is designed to decimate, to lacerate and relentlessly throttle through lips and around sections. There will be no scalps taken today though, as the Apache comes to bring peace through a contented line-up.

Apache HD

Where the glide of ‘free-friction’ meets the concentrated turning radius of ultimate gougeability; a marriage of perfectly complementing design concepts. A speeding summertime board, that still surfs ultra dynamic in the steep zones. The HD rocker and bottom applied to this model breathes in a whole new life. You might say it took a little trip around the sun and learned the roles gravitational pull has on the way waves break; and found itself a rocker and hull contours that work with those principles to find new sources of energy in key areas of the wave where the water is surging fastest.

Rocker and hull contours is where the true personality lies…some insight as to mine: not very flat, in fact a lot of bend between the feet; but a continuous bend nonetheless so the water speeds around the corners like a straight line from nose to tail. Accompanied by deep deep accelerating concaves to about 1/2″ deep through the fins / with inset bonzer-Esque double running through fin cluster. And concave straight off the tail.

concave deck at an additional $150

less paddle power, but that amazing “in the wave” feel

channels at an additional $150

It has also been set-up to ride as either a quad or thruster…..keeping your fin options open. In a nutshell…..it’s more versatile, faster and looser; skates though the flats quicker, and surfs tighter and more responsive in the pocket than ever before.

5 fin install – ride as quad/thruster

Tubes, tubes and more tubes. Barrels and buckets and buckets of barrels. In Hawaii, in Mexico, in Australia where they’ve all gone feral. Shacks at dawn and dusk, even under moonlight and threat of the musky musk and the tusky tusk. Barrels for beebops and toddlers and grownups. We’ll navigate the future with religious zeal, riding holy rollers and watery chariots following on @keepittropical ‘s heels 6'1" x 19" x 2 9/16" 31L #holyrollersurfboard

I’ve always admired the surfers that go to the places where everybody else isn’t. Watching the swell charts and the winds and tides, getting intel from the boots on the sand underground expats. Waiting till the masses flock to the next tour stop to pull the trigger on going to an off season under the radar swell that’s the farthest away from the melee. @petemendia seems to have always had a certain penchant for watching the wheels go round and round, no longer riding on the merry go round. People think he’s crazy doing what he’s doing (that was the Beetles btw) …but when you find empty peaks that are guttering out and running down the trench for tubes longer and deeper and emptier than a world that’s got it’s focus diverted away from the mystique of adventure basqued in solitude…that’s where you’ll find the yeti. Here he rides a 7’8” x 19 1/4” x 2 7/8” #Pipecleanersurfboard with orange air spray, black racy rails, glassed strong, with plenty of paddle power, carbon for strength, shallow single to double concaves to vee, and a quad to get an extra gear of speed to roll right through three foam balls, eight speed bumps and four chandeliers on the way to an exit 100 yards from where you pulled in.

Backhand carve in Da Islands by @petemendia
6’3” x 19 1/4” x 2 11/16” 32.5L #Flyinlionsurfboard roundtail slight step-up in poly construction. This model is currently our most popular high performance step-up. It threads barrels, yet does in the pocket like a shortboard. Glide in paddle so you get in early. It has heavy concaves through the fins that provide for a clampy grip off the bottom that holds and drives into the lip with maximum drive. It’s snappy with controlled release through carves too. So if your looking for which step-up out of all my different shapes this winter this is the one for that overhead+ ripping range.
