Last Monday we finally got some head-high-plus waves [5-6ft @ 11-12 sec] up here, so I got a chance to take out the board you shaped for me. Of course you already know what your Mendia Jetstream boards can do, so I won’t go into that.
What you don’t know is my reaction to it:
Four decades of boards and I have never felt that level of speed and responsiveness in a board before. It essentially seemed to go anywhere I wanted it to on the wave, immediately.
And the Jetstream full board length of concave created what I am sure you have heard others say, a lift that feels like flying over the water.
Also, it is not like I was riding a slow, sluggish board the past few months: I switched my AM1 Blacksticks out of a 5’11” SciFi into the 6’1″ Mendia.
What a thrill, man! It was so worth the wait and extra cash, and I will be ordering another board from you again someday, though even after about 60+ rides, there is not a single pressure ding – nothing! – on the entire board. For me surfing The Point, that is just unprecedented. This place is so hard on boards, and this Mendia still looks brand new.
So, thank you!! I haven’t felt this amount of stoke in a quite a while. I can’t wait until Thursday, the next swell, to get back on it.
