A tale of longevity

Here’s a tale of longevity: This board was made eight years ago. It’s a standard poly construction, but made with care and attention to detail. It was from the time just after Clark Foam had closed their doors suddenly and unexpectedly; leaving 80% of the worlds board builders without foam. I had ordered a container of Burford blanks from Australia so I had a stock of foam to make it through the drought until new suppliers could step into the gap (thank you God for your mercies towards us).

So this board was made with Ozzy foam and we glassed it with direct size glass and a 3/4 patch of S-glass. It was a new prototype shape I was working on called Da Monsta, but we didn’t have a logo for it yet.

Over the years it has been ridden by three different brothers, passed down to friends…the deck crushed out, but never delammed, airs stomped but never buckled. The rocker has stayed aligned and for all intents and purposes she’s still got some miles left in her.

The consensus was that “hey this was a goody” …so after all the battle scars and bruises had taken the youthful luster away, her bright soul still exudes something special.

These are the kinds of trusty ‘ol war wagons I like to surround myself with in the piles of boards stacked in the corners of my shaping room. They are kinda like relatives that have passed on but you sense them around the fringes of your life encouraging you, still with you reminding you of those things in life that live on forever.
