For more than four decades, South Florida’s Pete “Yeti” Mendia has been stomping down-carves everywhere from Reef Road to Rocky Point. Where most of his generation have allowed the trappings of adult life, jobs, and children to slow them down, Pete—now the proud father of one of Florida’s rising stars, Kepa Mendia—has stayed tack-sharp and on it, chasing swells with his young cub at his side, and leading by fine fatherly example.
