Some fun swell came in and I finally got to take my Zipstitch out for a surf in several of my favorite spots. I rode it in waist high beach break and 5’ to slightly overhead reef and beach break.
Volume is nice for paddling and duck diving is easier than I expected. It’s in the groveler section of your website but it’s definitely a high performance shortboard for me. The nose is pointy so I found it harder to get into waves than I would have expected but the channeled swallow tail makes my pop up very stable and the initial drop is controlled in clean waves, chop or high tide bobble. Feels locked to my feet. No slide out on 6’ waves. I haven’t used wax at all since we put traction on front and back. That’s really eye opening and I love it.
Down the line it feels natural, doesn’t stall in flats and I have excellent response in the tail when I want to turn. I have to work on getting back down from the lip now because it’s very easy to get up there anytime I want to :). I also want to try as a quad to see about drawing a higher line. Thanks for the excellent build with carbon rails. Despite being stringer-less the board feels durable and survived some shore break unscathed. It does feel poppier than the technonaught and lighter.
