...what began as an ideological word study on peace in the Middle East, burgeoned into a thought process on worldview and the power of mindful contemplations regarding life and death. This blade is meant to give life... a goodie when the waves get fun.
Try and name the surfer, their age, and the spot. And we’ll tell you their build and the dimensions of this board.

Stoked surfer feedback: this just in >> “Just wanted to give some feedback on the two boards. The monsta chief is amazing, between the channels and swallow tail it feels like the board just wants to take off on its own. That being said it’s been hard to tear myself away from the monsta fish. It’s fast, loose, cruisy, had a blast on it all summer especially point breaks where it has some room to move. I thought I had the board figured out, then last week during a run of decent swell I threw in some quad rears and head to some punch beach break. I was blown away, it might as well be a different board. Crazy fast and responsive. Looking forward to exploring its upper limits this winter, but I think one thing is for certain, it’s definitely not just a groveler!” —Nick 34/6’3”/200lb | l6’2” x 21 1/4” x 2 7/8” 42L #monstafish #proxyepoxy #surferfeedback ...

Just shaped it:
First of its kind for a local Ventura surfer named Brennan. It’s a step-up for a hollow rare gem point that roars to life every now and again. The outline is that of the #Holyrollersurfboard / #monstasurfboard i.e. fuller in the nose to roll in early, swept back roundpin to sit easy crispy in the tube; subtle beak nose; low volume rails to knife into the wave face while the lip pitches out; thickness down the center and under the chest to motor around a wide open playing field; a single to double #Jetstreamsurfboard hydrofoilesque hull; with parabolic inset compression chamber sluiceboxes with side channels that split off sustaining a four pack of glass-on bonzers; capped off with a small center box to hold a five incher...I’ll keep you posted as she gets lammed up, finned up and generally comes all together. I’ve found that by scalloping the sluicebox concaves to follow the outline through the midsection of the board and then angle them to a compression transition zone through the fins, creates this huge wide open sweet spot from under the front foot through the entire board, and the added water flow heading into the fins creates a dynamic vortex enabling the board to generate even higher levels of turbulent-smoothing speeds than previous jet stream / sluicebox combinations. It will be very interesting to see what all this does with the added leverage and surface areas of a bonzer fin setup as well. Keep ya posted mates...

This is Nash from San Clemente. We like how he gnashes his teeth and bears his claws with style in this frontside gaffleroo. Nash is 11, 4’8”, 78lbs. His poppa Jay was one of the first rippers to get boards from me way back when I lived in San Clemente and handshaped every board from a raw blank. The days when it felt kinda almost like running a black market surfboard cartel where I’d meet people in all sorts of out of the way spots like the back of gas stations early in the morning, or in back alley’s behind clubs late at night, at taco shops for breakfast, at crash houses where like 10 surfers would be living in a space meant for maybe four, in parking lots and dirt roads wherever the waves were going, at the end of jetty rocks, or on piers at dawn...crumpled wadded cash for a blade that kept the dream alive. Memories that I count a privilege because to me these are the real people that make our little subculture breathe and thrive and grow through the next generation...with the real stuff that can’t be bought or sold or marketed or stickered and contracted...because it’s the stuff that makes our souls tick with the genuine stoke that the ocean offers us freely every day. So take a break from your labors, take a rest from thinking too hard; and breath the free air my friends.

You know when you meet certain people that seem like they are always smiling, look you in the eyes when they talk to you, and when they speak they have something nice to say; things that build up not tear down. People that laugh a lot, not about crass low stuff, but about the light quirky, and actually funny things of life. People that are positive. Those kinds of people inspire us because they draw people together instead of pitting people against one another. This is Pierce. He’s one of those people. 📷 @gcastillophoto

5’8” x 19 1/4” x 2 3/8” 27.8L #Monstavarotti for Anika.
The new #Pavarottisurfboard rocker and bottom has been such a hit, that I’ve begun morphing it onto existing outlines, like this swallowtail #Monstasurfboard. My Italian Uncle ‘Salvi’ Salvatore used to work on Italian car engines for Steve McQueen and Elvis Presley back in the day. Salvi’s specialty was with AlphaRomeo’s and Maserati’s. I visited him once in Sicily in the little old world ancient mountaintop town named Savoca where he and my Auntie Anna lived. He would force me to take shots of uzo and anisette with him at age 14, then have me sit shotgun while he leadfooted the latest racecar he was working on, speeding down the single lane mountain pass. I remember whiteknuckling the door handle and leaning over and telling my uncle, “I think you should slow down around the blind curves!” To which Salvi would yell back, “No Todd it’s better we go fast!...more control dat way!”...and so this latest Monsta iteration kinda sounds to me like one of those classic Italian racecars Uncle Salvatore would push the envelope in...thus the “Monstavarotti” has been born. Board video design breakdown coming soon.
By the way, the cumulative work here by our crew with all hands involved from start to finish is what really makes everything tick over here. Charissa on client interfacing, order timelines (and basically making the whole ship run -p.s. she could run a small country / or a big one), Pedro on CNC machine, Todd on board design, shaping, and art concept and custom consult, Charissa again on custom pigment resin color mix, Spencer on resin swirl and cutlap lamination, Nick on fins and sand. So from our little racecar garage to you, we wish you some exhilarating rides on your #Monstavarotti

Stoked surfer reports: this just in >> “Hey Todd and Charissa, Took delivery of the Hideo just a few days before I left for Panama. Arrived in perfect condition as usual but was kind of tripping on it. Never seen a board quite like it. Anyway, waves were flat so didn’t get to give it a go.
Went on my trip, had a great time. Stayed with my brother and sister in law on their boat in Bocas. Scored some good Careneros. Monsta HD is custom fit for that wave btw. Got home and still nothing for a Hiddy test. Finally this past weekend got a little bump from the tropics. Weak, waist to chest high. Todd! I was catching waves out past the longboarders. And you can still surf it like a conventional shortboard. Super impressed. Love it. Exactly what I was looking for. Devours Florida weakness. Haha. Hope you guys are doing well. I’ll be in touch soon for the next one.” —Jody
