In this episode of “People Who Surf” – we have @yvesbright
a core-as-it-gets surfer I’ve known for almost as long as my surfing journey began. Yves has been a stand out ripper since he was a kid…and has continued to stay super fit, stay in the water and is still upping his game. He’s a bit of a modern day renaissance man, excelling in photography, a businessman, a model, and a family man. This summer was a huge testament to that adage ‘like a fine wine’ …as I’ve witnessed a very average kinda small scale summer in Cali, but Yves made lemonade out of lemons with the swells. Throwing huge buckets and airs and finners in the South Bay where he resides. We tuned in a special board this summer too, called the X-15, a nice all-around performance shorty with a slightly fuller nose, relaxed rocker and a shallow single to slightly deeper single concave through the fins. It’s turned into that quintessential “everything” performance board and has been a treat for lots of surfers this season. Yves was the first test pilot on this newer design, and he really tested its parameters with his precision focus talent. Just look at how he attacked this end section in slide one. When I first saw it, I was like, “Hey was that a tow-at?” To which he said, “Nope, normal, and it was a small wave too.” Rad!
